Hiring Process
Being Selected

In order to be selected for an interview an application must be filled out and submitted to the Human Resources Department. Applicants are generally notified by phone within two weeks if they have been selected for an interview. Applicants who are not selected are typically notified by mail by the hiring department after the position has been filled. The Town of Avon requires a personal interview and a background check before a job offer is extended.


Closing Date

Most jobs are listed with a closing date.  Applications for these positions must be received on or before the closing date.


Open Until Filled
Some jobs are open until filled. Supervisors will review applications on a periodic basis and notify applicants they would like to interview. If you want to know the status of your application, you may contact the supervisor.

The Supervisors
Supervisors contact selected candidates and schedule interviews. The hiring supervisor reviews all applications, and schedules interviews based on the qualifications of the applicants. The hiring supervisor will call if you have been selected for an interview. On most occasions, candidates are contacted within two weeks after receiving and reviewing the applications or two weeks from the closing date.

Not Selected

If interviewed, but not selected the Human Resources Department or the supervisor will contact you by phone or letter.


Selected
If you are selected for hire the supervisor will check references and conduct a background review before making you a job offer.
