The overarching goal of the Department of Public Works is to maintain town-owned infrastructure.

The Public Works Department consists of three basic divisions:

All divisions lend support to other Departments for various special events throughout the year, planning, and assisting with set-up/tear-down, crowd control, trash collection, traffic control, and vendor supervision.

The Department operates under the supervision of the Director of Public Works, Jennifer Strehler.

Landscaping is allowed in the right-of-way, but must adhere to allowed plantings.  Please review Avon's right-of-way planting standards before planting.  This restrictions are designed to protect the visibility of the traveling public, protect sidewalks and pavements from long-term root damage, and ensure snow storage is provided for road maintenance operations while still encouraging beautification of our street frontage.
